In paintball you can find two different types of paintball tanks. Each type takes a certain type of air, and in turn can be pressurized at greater PSI's (pound per square inch).
Co2 Paintball Tanks - Co2 is one of the most abundant gasses in the world, and duly is the easiest to find. You won't have a hard time refilling a co2 paintball tank, which is one of the biggest reasons why players stick to co2. These tanks can come in 9oz to 20oz sizes, and are often made of steel or aluminum.
HPA Paintball Tanks - HPA stands for high pressure air, which includes nitrogen and compressed air. Air compressors are used to fill HPA tanks. HPA tanks are generally made out of carbon fiber, which is a light but durable material able to handle the high pressure. These paintball tanks are much more expensive.
